Wang second, Ocampo third at tennis finals

It could have come down to an all Willow Glen final at the league tennis championships in the West Valley Division of the Blossom Valley Athletic League.
It could have, but it didn't. Sophomore William Wang and senior Jose Ocampo each made it to the league semifinals, but one came up a winner and the other didn't.
So the Rams didn't play one another for the title. Instead, the two Willow Glen tennis standouts finished second and third in the West Valley individual tournament, giving the Rams a solid showing at the division event.
Wang won his way into the finals before losing 6-2, 6-1 to a Silver Creek foe. Ocampo, meanwhile, ended up in the third-place match and won 6-2, 6-4 over an Independence opponent to clinch third.
It was quite an effort for Wang. The sophomore whipped a Lincoln foe 6-1, 6-1 in the quarterfinals, then went three sets to beat an Independence player 6-7 (5-7), 6-2, 6-0. A straight-set loss in the finals left Wang second in the division.
