'Woman's hour' exhibit visits San Jose YWCA
Mary Baker Eddy was a 19th century religious leader and journalist, founder of the Christian Science religion and publisher of The Christian Science Monitor, The Christian Science Journal, the Christian Science Sentinel and the popular book, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures. Christian Science lecturer Susan Cobb will speak about Eddy and her history as one of America's leading voices for the rights of women, and as the founder of Christian Science, on May 20, at 2 p.m. at the YWCA, 375 S. Third St., San Jose.
An exhibit, "This is Woman's Hour..." will be available for viewing at the YWCA, on May 15-20, as well as at the Christian Science Reading Room, 238 E. Main St., Los Gatos, May 27 and 29-31, and at the Saratoga Public Library, 13650 Saratoga Ave., on May 26.
The multimedia exhibit features Eddy as one of the untold stories of women's history. Visitors to the exhibit can learn more about Eddy as a healer, a thinker and a doer in the context of other pioneering women of her time. The exhibit and lecture are free and open to the public.
