Thanks for piece on cell phone yakkers

Thank you for your piece about talking on cell phones in grocery stores ("Are you talkin' to me?" Feb. 21). I couldn't agree more! To the good points you made, I would only add that I am continually amazed at the arrogance of those frequently loud speakers who seem to feel entitled to fill the available public air space with their conversations, assuming an interest on the part of all within range! I don't suppose the problem will end soon, but I appreciate knowing that it bothers someone else as much as it does me!

I can't resist adding, however, that I suspect your experience in the produce section at Safeway when you "peaked" (as in Pike's?) was more likely one of "peeking" (as in taking a look). This, by the way, seems to be an epidemic, as the same situation occurred in The Chronicle earlier this week!
