Donaldson qualifies for CCS finals

Only the best track and field athletes qualify for Central Coast Section competition. But only the best of the best advance to the CCS finals.

Jaleh Donaldson of Presentation falls into that category, and she'll be in the field when the best of the best compete in the CCS finals on May 29, 6 p.m., at San Jose City College.

Donaldson placed eighth in the shot put at the CCS semifinals last weekend at San Jose City College to earn a berth in the section finals.

Donaldson heaved the shot put 34-734 to clinch a place in the championship meet. Donaldson had pitched the shot 33-112 a week earlier to place sixth in the event at the CCS South Subsectionals to qualify for the semis.

Willow Glen's Chris Watkins also placed at the subsectional to win a spot in the semifinals last weekend. Watkins was seventh in the 800 meters in 2:01.92.
