Heart association honors WG family
Bobbe George, a longtime Willow Glen resident, and her family will be honored at the American Heart Association's Women's Tea of Heart's Lunch on Thursday, May 30, at the Fairmont Hotel. George's late husband, Glenn, a founding board member of the American Heart Association in San Jose, died last year. Concert marks World No Tobacco Day
In celebration of World No Tobacco Day, Lung Salvation: The Tracy Wilson Memorial Concert will be held from 5 p.m. until midnight on May 31 at the Mexican Heritage Garden Theater, 1700 Alum Rock Ave. in San Jose. Wilson was a community activist and music buff who died of lung cancer in 1993. Proceeds will benefit the Tracy Wilson Scholarship Fund. Local businesses to gather at expo
The San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce will present the "Re-Connect 2002 Silicon Valley Business Expo" at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center on June 26, 1:30-7 p.m. The free event will feature a small-business awards luncheon, as well as booths for 250 exhibitors. "We see signs that the economy is picking up, and this expo affords Silicon Valley companies the opportunity to grow their customer base and gain greater exposure within the business community," says Jim Cunneen, president and CEO of the San Jose Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce. Bonfante Gardens reopens for season
Bonfante Gardens Family Theme Park in Gilroy reopened the weekend of May 11. New attractions include "Sky Trail," a ride that takes guests through the treetops in Monarch Garden, and "Twigville," a children's area with a "bounce house," "funny mirrors," arcade games and rides. The park is open weekends until June 9, with special Memorial Day hours. Fridays have been reserved as garden-only days. Admission during garden-only days is $10.95 for all ages.
