The Willows Senior Center is planning to round up people to "walk a golden mile" at Lake Cunningham Park at Tully and White roads in San Jose at 10 a.m. Thursday, June 11. A barbecue is scheduled for after the walk. To sign up for the walk, call the center at 448-6400. Senior center unveils 'portraits of the past' For a taste of fashion mixed with local history, the Willows Senior Center is hosting a vintage fashion show on Friday, June 19. Put on by the San Jose Historical Society, the event is called "Portraits of the Past" and features volunteers from the San Jose Historical Museum as models. The show will include costumes from the turn of the century and stories about historic characters who were instrumental in the history of San Jose. Held from 3 to 5 p.m., the Father's Day show is free to moms and dads. For information, call the center at 448-6400. Event educates about seniors' opportunities Chances are, there are more services and opportunities out there for seniors than you know. And organizers of a fair planned for Saturday, June 6, aim to inform you about as many of them as possible. Titled "Getting Old Isn't for Sissies," the event will be held at the Intergenerational Health Center at 1570 Alta Glen Drive in San Jose from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The fair is free and open to all.
