The Willow Glen ResidentVieira, Schnieder help Red Sox to four winsBy Dick Sparrer Darin Vieira blasted 10 hits and Dan Schnieder picked up a pair of pitching wins when the Willow Glen Red Sox opened the Colt League season with wins in four of six games. Schnieder tossed a shutout and Vieira had three hits to drive in three runs to lead the Red Sox to an 18-0 win over Blossom Valley. Jeff Henning ripped a pair of hits for the Sox, and Evan Wallace and Mike Williams knocked in two runs apiece. Vieira came back with four hits, and Henning went the distance to claim the mound win in Willow Glen's 9-4 victory over the Martinez Cubs in the first round of the Benicia Tournament. Wallace, Henning and Mark Gallo clubbed three hits each for the winners, and Williams drove in three runs. Willow Glen lost 9-1 to the Bay Area Knights "A" All-Stars and fell 7-2 to the Petaluma Predators before pulling out an 11-1 win over the Bay Area Knights "B" All-Stars. Schnieder was the winning pitcher against the Knights, and Vieira and Chris Morgan had three hits each. Chris Ralston walked twice in the win and has now walked 12 times in the first six games of the season. The Red Sox had opened the season with a lopsided 15-4 win over the Campbell Cardinals. Damien Hall and Schnieder tossed the Sox to the victory. Jeff Mispagel doubled and singled to knock in three runs, and Hall and Morgan each had two hits to plate a pair of runs apiece.
