Macchi, D'Antonio join All-Star team

It's summer, and time for baseball, swimming, picnics in the park... and football?
That's right. While football may be considered a fall sport in most areas, in the Santa Clara Valley there's football every summer for the very best of the recently graduated high school seniors.
And the same game, but with something of a new name, returns to the valley this summer when the North meets the South in the Silicon Valley Youth Classic Charlie Wedemeyer All-Star Football Game.
The game is slated for July 26, 7:30 p.m., at Spartan Stadium. And just as it has in years past, the Almaden Valley Rotary Club sponsored event promises to be the "Best Game in Town."
Local stars Ben D'Antonio and David Macchi of Willow Glen and Brian Davis, Travis Murdock and Mike Wiens of Pioneer will be on the field for the South team in the summer classic.
