Film Wave rolls district senior TOC title crown

    By Dick Sparrer

    It wasn't even close.

Film Wave of the Lincoln Glen Little League rolled to the title in the District 12 senior division Tournament of Champions with three lopsided victories over the Branham Hills Giants, Almaden Blues and Cambrian Reds.

The Wave pounded the Giants 12-1 in the first round of the tournament, blanked the Blues 5-0 and blasted the Reds 17-7 to bring home the first ever senior TOC crown for Lincoln Glen.

It took Film Wave just five innings to win the championship game, beating the Reds quickly on the 10-run rule.

Bobby Ralston was the offensive star for Film Wave in the title game. Ralston doubled twice and singled to drive in four runs. He also scored three times in the win.

Michael Wittmayer doubled home a pair of runs and scored three times for Lincoln Glen, and Doug Dionne and Dusty Yoder each doubled and drove in two runs. Kevin Becker also doubled in the win.

Michael Glomb scored three runs and knocked in two and Keith Doleshel scored twice and drove in a pair of runs.

Yoder and Doleshel combined to toss the win for Lincoln Glen. Yoder went four innings to get the win and Doleshel finished up by tossing the fifth.

Cambrian actually jumped out to the early lead with three runs in the top of the first, but Lincoln Glen answered with six in the home half of the frame. Film Wave added four in the second and four in the third and, after the Reds scored four in the fifth, Lincoln Glen picked up three more in the fifth to clinch the 10-run win.

Dionne had gone the distance to toss a two-hit shutout in the 5-0 semifinal win over Almaden. He struck out nine in the win.

Glomb singled and doubled, knocking in a run and scoring two, and Dionne had two hits and plated a run. Ralston doubled a run home and Yoder drove in two runs.

Film Wave provided all the support Dionne needed with a four-run rally in the third, then added an insurance run in the seventh.

Lincoln Glen was locked in a scoreless tie for three innings with Branham Hills before busting the game open with seven runs in the fourth.

Wittmayer singled and doubled, driving in a run and scoring three, and Dionne singled and tripled, scoring twice and knocking in a run. Scott Glicksberg doubled in two runs and Craig Doleshel also doubled in the win.

    K. Doleshel allowed just three hits and a run over six and a third innings, striking out nine along the way, and Dionne came on in relief to strike out the final two hitters.
