Billy DeFrank Center workshop planned
The Billy DeFrank Lesbian and Gay Community Center will host a "Guided Imagery and Visualization" workshop with Esther Johnson, R.N. on July 18 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The free event will be held at the center, 938 The Alameda in San Jose. Pets for Seniors
The Santa Clara County Chapter of the Older Women's League invites the public to a talk about pets for seniors by Christine Benninger, executive director for The Humane Society of Santa Clara County, on July 14 at 9:45 a.m. at the Cypress Gardens Housing Complex Community Room.
Those attending can learn about how seniors can adopt pets for free and about the latest trends in animal welfare and some of the myths that remain about animal sheltering. The complex is located at 3555 Judro Way, San Jose, behind the Cypress Senior Center.
Salvation Army plans a shopping spree
The Salvation Army of Santa Clara County is looking for volunteers to chaperone the 10th annual Back-to-School Shopping Spree on Aug. 11 from 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
Volunteer chaperones will help at least two children shop for new clothes, uniforms, shoes and attend their breakfast party. For store locations and more information, call Lisa Pederson at 408.282.1165 ext. 218.
