Workshop teaches how to make most of home compost

Now that planting season has arrived with summer, the city of San Jose and the Santa Clara County Home Composting Education Program want to teach residents how to make fertilizer through a composting workshop.

The "Compost Basics" workshop will be taught by master composters from the program. Participants will learn how to recycle yard waste and food scraps into usable fertilizer.

The free workshop will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, July 18, at Prusch Park at King and Story roads in San Jose. To register for the workshop, call the Master Composter "rotline" at 299-4147.
