    Saddle Rack to close

Patrons of the Saddle Rack country nightclub will be pulling on their boots for one last stompin' good time next month.

The club on the southeast corner of Meridian and Auzerais Avenues will close after 25 years and an Aug. 5 party. A 233-unit residential development by Kaufmann and Broad is proposed for the 6.22-acre site. Kaufmann and Broad spokesman Robert Freed said construction could begin on the site later this year.

Saddle Rack manager Andy Buchanan has said the club owners hope to relocate the club. For more information about the Saddle Rack's last event, call 408.286.3393 or visit www.thesaddlerack.com.

Two meetings will be held in San Jose: July 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Del Mar High School cafeteria, 1224 Del Mar Ave., and July 31 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Quail Hollow Mobile Home Park Club House, 1445 S. Bascom Ave. For more information, call 408.321.7575 or visit www.vta.org.
