    WGHS reunions are coming up soon

    The Willow Glen High School classes of 1965, 1969, 1970, 1971 and 1975 will hold reunions this summer, and graduates are searching far and wide for their fellow alumni.

    The class of 1965 will reunite on July 29 at Saratoga Springs in Saratoga. For information on how to meet up with this class, call Marie Haverson at 408.371.5555, or Sharon Thigpen at 408.629.1262.

    Also on July 29, the class of 1975 will meet at the Westin Hotel in Santa Clara. Call Future Reunions at 925.460.1992 for information.

    On Aug. 5, the WGHS classes of 1969, 1970 and 1971 will get together at the Cocoanut Grove in Santa Cruz. For information, call Reunion Masters at 800.359.7888.

    WGBPA looking for help with Founder's Day

    The Willow Glen Business and Professional Association is looking for volunteers to lend a helping hand for the upcoming Founder's Day Celebration set for Sept. 9-10.

    The two-day festival will feature a parade, live entertainment, shopping, eating and drinking. To get involved, call the association at 408.298.2100.

    Friends of WG Library board has seat open

    The Friends of the Willow Glen Library board has an open seat on its board for 2000-01. The nonprofit, volunteer organization raises funds to support programs and services for the branch library.     Business directory due out Aug. 1

    The Willow Glen Business and Professional Association will deliver its annual Willow Glen Business Directory starting Aug. 1. This year, 20,000 copies will be delivered to Glenites, 10,000 copies to Rose Garden residents and another 10,000 to local businesses.     San Jose council resumes meetings

    San Jose City Council members will resume council meetings on Aug. 1, following a month-long recess. To check out the upcoming agenda, visit www.ci.sanjose.ca.us/cty_clk/agenda.htm.

    Meetings are held in council chambers every Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. In addition to afternoon meetings, city council evening sessions are normally held on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. in council chambers.

    Glenites can also tune into council meeting on cable access television channel 37A at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday, or catch reruns on Thursdays at 7 p.m. and Saturdays at 10 a.m.

    Youth Science Institute gets state funding

    California's $99.4 billion budget for the 2000-01 fiscal year includes funding for a local children's educational group, the Youth Science Institute.

    The institute has been teaching South Bay kids about science since 1953. The institute introduces thousands of students and teachers to nature through programs, activities and exhibits.

    The Youth Science Institute is also a partner in the Willow Glen Neighborhood Association Volunteer Creek Restoration Project and the Santa Clara Urban Runoff Pollution Prevention Program.

    "Over the past four years there has been a dramatic increase in demand for our programs," says Anne Dunham, executive director of the institute.
