The Willow Glen ResidentSports BriefsSox in nationals The Willow Glen Red Sox placed second in the regional AAU 15-and-under baseball tournament in Reno over the July 4th weekend to qualify for the AAU National Tournament set for Aug. 1-8, in Kingsport, Tenn. Members of the team include Darin Vieira, Mark Gallo, Danny Brown, Matt Durkin, Jeff Henning, Nathan Guido, Ryan Schon, Chris Ralston, Jeff Mispagel, Andrew Knapp, Chris Morgan, Damion Hall, Mike Koontz, Doug Silverman, Mike Williams and Dan Schneider. The Red Sox are coached by John Vieira, Mike Guido, Richard Hall and John Mispagel. Pioneer wins Mike Ereno had four hits, including a pair of triples, to lead the Pioneer American Legion baseball team to a 10-5 victory over Monta Vista. The win left the Mustangs 6-6-1 for the summer season. Jamel Choudry and Kevin Gray each singled and doubled in Pioneer's season-ending win. Kevin Mack and Sean Farrell had two hits apiece, and Todd Scudder, Grant Miller and Kevin Sparrer added singles in the win. Special Olympics Volunteers are needed for the fall Special Olympics program. Athletes will participate in cycling, long-distance running, soccer and ice skating in the months ahead, and volunteers are needed to help. An orientation meeting will be held on Aug. 11, 7 p.m., at the Special Olympics office, 5730 Chambertin Drive, in San Jose for anyone interested. For more information, call 267-2734. Baseball Camp South Bay Baseball presents its annual Camp With the Pros Aug. 3-7 at John Muir Middle School, 1260 Branham Lane, for all baseball players, ages 7-12. The cost is $99 per player, but group rates are available. Players are grouped by age and skill level. Roger Samuels, a former pitcher for the San Francisco Giants and Pittsburgh Pirates, is the camp director, and Mark Cummins, head baseball coach at Live Oak for the past 13 years, is director of instruction. Camp hours are 9 a.m.-1 p.m. each day, and the camp features individualized and group instruction, live batting practice and instructional scrimmages. Soccer Camps Santa Clara Soccer Camps will hold a series of camps for boys and girls, ages 6-17, at Santa Clara University. Camp sessions include: Boys' Day Camp--Aug. 3-7, ages 6-16, 9 a.m.-noon; Boys' Strikers Camp--Aug. 3-7, ages 10-16, 1:30-4 p.m.; Boys' Goalkeeper Camp--Aug. 3-7, ages 10-16, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Santa Clara Soccer Camps also features the Orchard Valley Youth Soccer League Team Development Program at the Morgan Hill Soccer Complex Aug. 10-14; and the Mt.
