    Wizard Day Camp at Guadalupe River Park

    Guadalupe River Park and Gardens offers a Water Wizard Day Camp for children age 7-11 on Tuesdays and Thursdays, July 31-Aug. 21 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Children will learn about the river, water conservation and local history through fun, hands-on activities such as habitat hunts, archeological digs and water experiments.     Kids Day at Children's Discovery Museum

    National Kids Day announces its inaugural celebration with activities taking place Aug. 5 from noon to 5 p.m. at the Children's Discovery Museum in San Jose.

    Families can enjoy "bug hugs," "messages in a bottle" and Browning Ferris Industries' "bag a gift for your garden." National Kids Day recognizes the importance of mentoring and spending time with kids in a learning environment in which communities come together to nurture, celebrate and respect childhood.

    It was established by the National Kids Day Alliance, a partnership between the Boys and Girls Club of America, 4-H, KidsPeace and YMCA, and encourages community involvement and participation in more than 8,000 locations nationwide.

    The Children's Discovery Museum in San Jose is the largest children's museum in the West. Admission is $7 for visitors ages 1-59, $6 for visitors age 60 and older and free for children under age 1. The National Kids Day celebration activities are free with admission to the museum.     Conference for Women of Faith comes to SJ

    Described as revival meeting, support group and women's stand-up comedy all rolled into one weekend, the 2001 Women of Faith conference will make a stop in San Jose, Aug. 10-11. Since 1996, the conference has swept the country, packing arenas at 108 events in 56 cities.

    Women of Faith features best-selling Christian women's authors Barbara Johnson and Patsy Clairmont, former professor Marilyn Meberg, Luci Swindoll and author and speaker Thelma Wells. Joining the team in San Jose will be award-winning musicians Babbie Mason and Ginny Owens. Hundreds of women will kick off the weekend with an in-depth session on Aug. 10 at the Los Gatos Christian Center with author Jan Silvious.

    The conference will be held from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Aug. 10 and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Aug. 11 at the Compaq Center in San Jose. It will be the 14th city on the 2001 conference schedule.

    This year's Women in Faith conference will include the launch of a daily two-minute radio commentary, a women's study Bible and Children of Faith, a faith-based conference for children.
