    Timing is everything.

And Danny Yoder had perfect timing for the Lincoln Glen Little League senior division all-stars in the finals of the District 12 tournament.

Yoder came through with a clutch run-scoring single in the bottom of the ninth to break a 2-2 tie and give Lincoln Glen the district championship with a win over Union.

The clubs had played through the regulation seven innings in a 2-2 tie, but Yoder ended the extra-inning affair with his clutch single in the ninth.

Kevin Shull had walked to get Lincoln Glen going in the inning, and he moved to second on a fielder's choice by Doug Dionne. Yoder followed with a single to left, and Shull raced around third, sliding into home with the winning run.

Michael Glomb singled twice, walked and scored a run for Lincoln Glen in the win. Jimmy Garcia singled and scored a run, and Michael Wittmayer ripped a run-scoring single. Bobby Ralston doubled for Lincoln Glen.

Andy Alves started on the hill for the winners and struck out four in three-plus innings of work. He gave way to Will Shaffer in the fourth, who came on with one out, two runners on base and the score tied 1-1. Shaffer struck out the side to get out of the jam.

Shaffer was the winning pitcher, tossing five and two-thirds innings of relief. He struck out seven and allowed just one run.

The win pushed Lincoln Glen into the Section 5 tournament at the Cambrian Park home field at Ida Price Middle School.

Lincoln Glen had dropped an 8-4 decision to Union to slip into "if necessary" game of the District 12 tournament. But the locals came through in the final game to clinch the title.

Lincoln Glen opened the district tournament with a 7-5 win over Cambrian Park, the defending champs in the senior division.

A five-run rally in the first inning started LG on the road to victory. Shull blasted a one-out double, Dionne was hit by a pitch and Yoder walked to load the bases.

Garcia ripped a run-scoring single, Adam Wright walked to push home another run and Dustin Yoder followed with a two-out double on a two-strike double to clear the bases and drive in three runs.

Cambrian answered back with three runs in the top of the second, but Lincoln Glen responded with two more in the bottom of the frame. Glomb singled, then Da. Yoder worked the count full before blasting a two-run homer.

Nathan McDonald tossed four innings to get the mound win and Shaffer fired three scoreless innings of relief, fanning four, to pick up the save.

Two runs in the top of the seventh helped Lincoln Glen pull out a thrilling 4-2 win over Union to move the local boys into the championship game.

Union led 2-1 heading into the seventh, and Lincoln Glen was down to its last strike when Glomb came through with his third hit of the game. Du. Yoder and Dionne each singled to load the bases, and Da. Yoder walked to force home the tying run.

Garcia and Whittmayer were then each hit by pitches to push home two more runs to give Lincoln Glen a 4-2 cushion to take into the bottom of the seventh.

Du. Yoder took the hill for the final inning and struck out the side to claim the thrilling victory.

Alves had tossed five solid innings, allowing just four hits and two runs while fanning five. But Yoder came on in relief in the sixth, then finished up in the seventh to get the win.

Lincoln Glen had taken the early lead in the game when Glomb singled in the third, stole second and third, then scored on a wild pitch.

Union tied it with a run in the fourth, then scored in the sixth to take a 2-1 lead.

Union dropped into the loser's bracket to face Branham Hills. Union won the game, then beat Lincoln Glen 8-4, to force the tournament to one final game.

But Lincoln Glen pulled out the 3-2 win in extra innings to clinch the district championship.
