Slammers in ASA national tourney

The song says that "the stars at night are big and bright."
Well, the 10-and-under all-star team from West Valley PAL Softball will find out this week, because the 'stars are "deep in the heart of Texas" playing in the National ASA Tournament for their age group.
The West Valley Slammers earned a place in the Aug 6-12 nationals in College Station, Texas, by winning the Northern California-State tournament championship at the Twin Creeks Sports Complex in Sunnyvale in early July.
It was the fifth tournament championship in seven tries this summer for the Slammers, who take a 32-4 season record to Texas. They have allowed only 67 runs in 36 games.
Members of the team now playing in Texas include Nicole Bertolacci, Ashley Bowler, Megan Blach, Michele Callaway, Anna Cannino, Jennifer Carrow, Michelle D'Arpino, Ashley DeMello, Michelle, Haughey, Katie Hewitt, Montanna Maggetti, and Molly Medeiros. The club's manager is Deanna Medeiros, and the coaches are Joe Medeiros and Nick Callaway.
