    Soccer coach needed

    Willow Glen is looking for a boys frosh-soph coach for the 2001-02 winter season. Those interested should call varsity head coach Sue Parisi at 408.267.4890.

    Police-Fire Games

    The 2001 California Police and Fire Summer Games, hosted this year by the San Jose Police Department, will be held Aug. 11-18 at venues throughout the area.

    Athletes from police and fire departments throughout California will compete in over 60 Olympic-style events.

    There will be a fireworks show at San Jose Municipal Stadium on Aug. 16 following the finals of the baseball competition. There will also be a memorial event in honor of those police officers and firefighters who have lost their lives in the line of duty on Aug. 17 during the boxing event at the San Jose Arena.

    Admission is free and the community is encouraged to attend. For more information, please call (408) 272-9751.

    Volleyball League

    The United States Youth Volleyball League will begin an eight-week league season for on Sept. 11 at Houge Park in San Jose.

    The coed instructional league is open to players ages 8-14, and the cost of $90 per player includes a uniform top and other equipment. Registration will continue through Aug. 15. For information, call 888.988.7985, or check the Web site at www.usyvl.org.

    Freestyle Program

    Willow Glen will begin a freestyle wrestling program for those ages 6-18 interested in learning how to wrestle. The group meets Mondays and Wednesdays, 5-6:30 p.m., in the small gym at Willow Glen. For more information, call Willow Glen wrestling coach Phil Luna at 408.629.6881.

    All-comer Meets

    Los Gatos will host the 22nd annual series of summer All-Comer Track and Field meets on the high school track.

    Meets are slated for Thursday evenings (Aug. 9 and 16). Pole vault competition begins at 5 p.m. with the rest of the field events getting under way at 5:30 p.m. Track events begin at 6 p.m.

    Competition will be in the following divisions: open men and women, high school boys and girls, masters men and women, and age group for kids in most events.

    The entry fee is $3 for unlimited events, and the cost is $2 for spectators. Proceeds go towards the upkeep and resurfacing cost of the Los Gatos track.
