BART to San Jose isn't only solution

I share the sense of urgency with my neighbors that solving our traffic congestion problems should be one of City Hall's highest priority.

That's why I support bringing BART to San Jose. BART will make the most significant improvement in getting people out of their cars, protecting the environment, and maintaining the economic vitality of our region. But BART is not the only solution to our traffic problems. A proposed ballot measure includes many additional traffic relief measures.

However, before the measure can go before the voters, the Valley Transportation Authority must give their approval on Aug. 9. According to the Mercury News, our supervisor and VTA Chair, Blanca Alvarado, is "leaning against" placing the measure on the November ballot. Whatever your views are on bringing BART to San Jose, please call Supervisor Alvarado at 408.299.2323 to let her know that you support having the voters decide.

    Correction

A July 19 article in the Willow Glen Resident incorrectly gave the name of a new home furnishings store on Lincoln Avenue. The correct name is Nancy B.
