Scott Adams of Los Gatos was running with the leaders in the San Jose International Triathlon VI.

Well, that's not exactly true. Adams was running, swimming and biking with the leaders in the grueling event at San Jose's Lake Almaden.

The competition began with a one-kilometer swim. Athletes climbed out of the water to begin a 40K bike ride, and finishing up with a 10K run.

And Adams covered the course well enough to finish among the top 15 pro and elite competitors. Adams finished 13th overall in 2:00:43.
