Ferraro plays baseball in Chicago

It's been a few years since Gary Ferraro starred on the baseball diamond at Willow Glen High School. But the only thing that's changed for Ferraro is that he's no longer a Ram. Because he's still a star.

Ferraro found himself in Chicago this summer playing for an all-star baseball team in the national championships.

Ferraro, who starred at West Valley Community College last spring, joined the nation's best amateur baseball players in Chicago for the 1998 Jewel-Osco National Amateur All-Star Baseball Tournament.

The tourney was established in 1992 to give top amateur players a national showcase.

The players, ages 16-18, competed in a 16-game tournament played at Chicago's Flames Field at the University of Illinois. The 120 players in the tourney represented the American Amateur Baseball Congress, National Amateur Baseball Federation, Dixie Baseball, RBI and Pony Baseball. Ferraro is a product of the San Jose Pacific and Willow Glen Pony-Colt programs.
