The Willow Glen ResidentSports BriefsCatfish Swim Swimmers will splash into the waters of Lexington Reservoir on Aug. 30 for the Catfish Swim II, part of the Red Bull Bay Area Open Water Swim Series. It is the only time of the year to legally swim in the reservoir. The event will begin at 9 a.m., and swimmers will compete in 1.2- and 2.4-mile events. There will also be a 2.4-mile, two-person relay. Wetsuits are allowed. The course will run counter-clockwise around Lexington and will be marked by large neon buoys. The event will feature a water start and a land finish. The registration fee is $25 by Aug. 23, or $35 on race day (relay teams add $5). Special Olympics Softball Tourney The Special Olympics softball tournament, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club, will be held Aug. 22, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., at the Twin Creeks Softball Complex in Sunnyvale. Admission is free to the 20-team tournament. Golf Tournament The annual Kiwanis Club of Cupertino Classic golf tournament returns to the Saratoga Golf and Country Club on Aug. 31. The entry fee is $125. The tournament begins with registration at 11 a.m., lunch at noon and a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. For more information, call 252-3830. Dammit Run The 25th annual Dammit Run returns to Los Gatos Aug. 22 with another dedicated field of runners expected to make the trek from Los Gatos High School to Lexington Dam and back again. Roller Hockey Roller-hockey players can find plenty to do this summer in leagues in a couple of different locations. Weekday leagues, high school leagues, lessons and drop-in play are available at the NHL-sized outdoor Roosevelt Roller Rink, 21st and Santa Clara streets. The cost is $2 for youth and $4 for adults.
