    Rams, Mustangs in action

    By Dick Sparrer

Willow Glen is still more than a week away from opening the 1999 high school football season.

But for those who want to get a preview look at the '99 Rams, Willow Glen will battle Andrew Hill in a scrimmage on Sept. 3 on the Hill turf.

Frosh-soph teams will collide at 3 p.m. at Hill, with the varsity teams scheduled to take the field at 4:30 p.m.

Willow Glen's season opener is set for Sept. 10 at PAL Stadium against Lincoln. Frosh-soph teams kick off at 5 p.m., with the varsity clash at 7:30 p.m.

Pioneer will also get its first test against another school this week when the Mustangs host Leigh in scrimmage action, 4 p.m. for the frosh-soph and 5:30 p.m. for the varsity.

Pioneer's season opener will be Sept. 11 when the Mustangs host Gunderson for an 11 a.m. frosh-soph game and a 1:30 p.m. varsity start.

Longtime rivals Willow Glen and Pioneer will meet again in the Santa Teresa Division of the Blossom Valley Athletic League this year.

Complete previews of each of the two teams will appear in next week's issue of the Resident.
