    Basketball Clinic

    Stanford's Mike Montgomery will join top high school and youth basketball coaches at the CCSA Basketball Clinic of Champions on Sept. 16, 11:30 a.m., at St. Francis High School in Mountain View.

    Montgomery, the talented men's basketball coach for the Cardinal, will be the featured speaker at the clinic. Steve Filios of St. Francis, Jim Marino of Los Gatos, George Banks of Independence and Pam Wimberly of Menlo Atherton are high school coaches who are on the list of speakers, along with young coaches John Wilkerson, Bob Sarlatte and John Sevey.

    Speakers will each give a 50-minute presentation on offense, defense or a particular aspect of the game of basketball. The clinic is recommended for high school and youth coaches, but is open to the general public.

    The event is expected to run from 11:30 a.m.-5 p.m., and the cost is $35 per person or $30 each for groups of five or more. For information, call clinic director Ray Calcagno at 650.969.3295 or log on to www.ccsa.net.

    YMCA Fall Sports

    The Central YMCA is looking for volunteer coaches in basketball, indoor soccer and roller hockey for the fall sports season. Teams of youngsters ages 3-6 and 7-14 will compete in the season that starts in the end of September and runs through Nov. 18. All games are played on Saturdays and there is one weekly practice at the Central YMCA. For information, call 408.298.1717, ext. 60.
