Chung leads Panthers to win

Pamela Chung nailed a cool 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 1 singles to lead the Presentation girls' tennis team to a 5-2 win over Mitty.

The win came in Presentation's first match of the year in the rugged Mt. Hamilton Division of the Blossom Valley Athletic League.

Jessica Martin and Courtney Clause also teamed for a win in straight sets for the Panthers, winning 6-1, 6-1 at No. 1 doubles. Luisa Duran and Nicole Shahlen combined for a 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles against the Monarchs.

The same day, Willow Glen opened league play with a 6-1 win over San Jose Academy. The Rams are now 1-0 in the West Valley Division of the BVAL and 2-1 for the year.

Booth leads Rams

Erin Booth drilled three goals, and Kellie Arnone passed out a couple of assists to lead the Willow Glen girls' field hockey team to a 5-2 win over Mitty in the season opener for the Rams.

Booth scored off of assists from Arnone and Courtney Miller and also added an unassisted goal to lead Peggy Booth's Rams to the victory.

Lindsey Rovai scored off a Booth assist for Willow Glen's first goal of the day, and Stacey Santomauro scored off an Arnone assist.

Volleyball Victories

The Willow Glen and Presentation girls' volleyball teams each rolled to victories in nonleague action last week.

The Rams turned back Overfelt 15-1, 11-15, 15-12, 15-9. The win evened Willow Glen's season record at 1-1.

Presentation also went four games for a nonleague victory. The Panthers handled Los Altos 15-8, 7-15, 15-4, 15-12. Presentation is now 6-1 for the year.
