In other action, the Willow Glen girls' tennis team lost a pair of matches to open the season in the West Valley Division of the Blossom Valley Athletic League. The Rams fell 6-1 to Yerba Buena and dropped a tight 4-3 nod to Lincoln. Willow Glen is now 0-2 in league play and 1-3 for the year. The Rams had beaten Del Mar 4-3 to open the week, but fell 7-0 to Prospect to open the season. Jags open with win The San Jose City College women's volleyball team opened the year with a win over Diablo Valley College. The Jaguars handled the Vikings 16-14, 15-3, 15-10. Punt, Pass and Kick The annual NFL Punt, Pass and Kick contest will be held Sept. 28, 3 p.m., at Camden Park. The free contest is open to boys and girls ages 8-15 (as of Dec. 31, 1997). Carousel to Coaster The annual Carousel to Coaster Run returns to Great America Sept. 28, 8:30 a.m. The 10K run and 5K walk begin at 8:30 a.m., and the course cuts right through the middle of the amusement park in Santa Clara. The registration fee is $17 by Sept. 15 and includes a race T-shirt. Race-day registration is $20, and shirts will be available while supplies last. For more information, call 984-3223.
