    Pitching program

    An eight-week fall pitching program for baseball players ages 9-12 will run Tuesday evenings, Oct. 26-Dec. 14, in the gym at West Valley Community College in Saratoga.

    The program teaches fundamentals, arm care and defensive skills. Players 9-10 attend at 7 p.m., players 11-12 at 8 p.m.

    Bridge-to-Bridge Run returns

    The annual Bridge-to-Bridge Run returns to the Bay Area on Oct. 3. The event features a 12K race and a 7K run and walk, and goes from the Embarcadero to Presidio National Park.

    The cost is $21 before Sept. 21, $15 for runners 16 and under. The event benefits Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and the Presidio Trust.

    Youth sports

    Sports programs for youngsters ages 7-14 will be offered this fall through the Central YMCA, 1717 The Alameda.

    A youth basketball league for boys and girls ages 7-14 will run from Oct. 16-Dec. 4 with games played on Saturdays. The registration deadline is Oct. 1.

    A youth roller hockey league for boys and girls ages 7-14 will run from Oct. 23-Dec. 11, with games played on Saturdays. The registration deadline is Oct. 8.

    Volunteer coaches needed

    The Central YMCA is looking for enthusiastic volunteer coaches to work the sports teams for youth ages 3-14. Sessions last six weeks with practices one night a week and games on Saturday mornings.

    Adult basketball registration

    San Jose is accepting registration for teams interested in playing in a six-game fall basketball league. The registration fee is $340 per team. For more information, call 277-5556.
