A course for new volunteers runs Oct. 6-Dec. 22 at the Willow Glen United Methodist Church, 1420 Newport Ave. For further information, call 276-6176. --Sharon Parks Grape-stomping at Italian Festa Those attending the Italian Heritage Foundation's 22nd Annual Italian Family Festa should be sure to wash their feet first if they want to join in the fun of the grape-stomping contest. Set for Oct. 3-4, the event re-creates an Italian village with decorated booths, authentic Italian food, wine and souvenir glasses, and a Saturday night tarantella street dance and costume contest with The Expresso 5 Band. Other activities include a pizza toss, a cheese-rolling contest, a salami-throw game and arts and crafts booths. Admission to the festival, in Plaza de Cesar Chavez on Market Street between San Fernando and San Carlos streets, is free. Festival hours are Saturday, Oct. 3, 11 a.m.- 9 p.m., and Sunday, Oct. 4, 10 a.m.-7 p.m. --Sharon Parks
