The Willow Glen ResidentRams have high expectationsBy Dick Sparrer A year ago, the Willow Glen girls posted their first winning volleyball season in over six seasons. That was a year ago. This year, their expectations are much higher. "The girls have worked very hard during the off season in order to prepare themselves to be league champions," said Willow Glen head coach Craig So. They're off to a good start. The Willow Glen girls opened the league season with back-to-back wins last week. The Rams whipped Lincoln 16-14, 15-2, 15-12 and pounded Andrew Hill 15-5, 15-7, 15-12. Willow Glen, now 2-0 in the West Valley Division of the Blossom Valley Athletic League, is 7-4 in the young season. And that good start for the Rams is no accident. "They've done so much extra work this past year," So said of his Rams, "and even in the preseason we've 'played up,' taking on teams in higher leagues." The Presentation girls, meanwhile, opened play in the rugged Mt. Hamilton Division with two wins to push their record to 11-3 this season. The Panthers handled Valley Christian 15-11, 15-1, 15-5, then knocked off Leland 15-10, 15-0, 15-7.
