Hinderliter and Allen lead the Panthers to a polo win

By Dick Sparrer

It didn't matter much to either team in the long run.

It wasn't a league game, there was no tournament championship at stake and it wasn't a game that would help either team get to the Central Coast Section play-offs.

But none of those factors lessened the competition when the Presentation and Menlo-Atherton girls' water polo teams jumped into the water for a non-league game last week.

And the Panthers played as if it was a very meaningful game indeed as they cruised to a 7-1 victory over M-A.

Jamie Hinderliter and Denise Allen tossed in two goals apiece to lead the Panthers to the victory. Laura DiPalermo, Tarryn Knight and Lisa Knott also scored goals in the win for Presentation.

As it turns out, the victory was an important one for the Panthers. With the win, they were able to keep their season record on the plus side of .500 at 5-3.

Panthers win in Volleyball

The Presentation girls' volleyball team won a pair of matches last week to push their record to 4-0 in the rugged Mt. Hamilton Division of the Blossom Valley Athletic League.

The Panthers, behind the play of Lisa Sunseri, Katie Rowe and freshman Lindsay Caton, turned back Prospect 15-4, 15-5, 13-15, 15-9 before whipping Overfelt 15-0, 15-5, 15-2.

The Panthers are now 15-5 for the year.

Rams and Panthers fall

The Willow Glen and Presentation girls' tennis teams were each stuck with losses last week. The Rams lost twice in the West Valley Division of the Blossom Valley Athletic League, falling 6-1 to Valley Christian and 6-1 to Yerba Buena. Willow Glen is now 1-7 in division play.

The Panthers dropped a 6-1 decision to Saratoga in a non-league match despite a 7-5, 6-1 win by Joanna Chung at No. 1 singles.
