Indigenous film opens Oct. 12 at city college
Ableza, a Native American Arts and Film Institute in San Jose, will present the world premiere of Dancing the Circle, a new Native American multimedia musical, from Oct. 12 through Oct. 15, at San Jose City College. The film features traditional and contemporary dance and music of Pacific Island, American Indian, Aztec, California Indian, Canadian, and Central and South American indigenous peoples.

Friends of the Library book sale is Oct. 14
The Friends of the Willow Glen Library are hosting their final used book and bake sale of the year from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 14, at the Willow Glen Library, 1157 Minnesota Ave. All proceeds benefit the Willow Glen Branch Library. For more information, call 408.998.2053.
Fundraiser benefits nonprofit agencies
The Junior League of San Jose, in cooperation with Nordstrom, will hold its 11th biennial fashion show fundraiser, Avenues of Style, on Oct. 19 and 20. The fundraiser will benefit nonprofit agencies in Santa Clara County. Thursday and Friday luncheons begin at 11 a.m., the Friday Gala begins at 6:30 p.m.
