The Willow Glen ResidentSports BriefsBooth leads Rams Erin Booth scored two goals for the Willow Glen girls' field hockey team last week. But one was much bigger than the other. Booth scored a goal for the Rams in their league opener against Prospect early last week, but Willow Glen gave a 4-1 decision to the Panthers. Her goal two days later proved much bigger, though. Booth scored a first-half goal, and that stood up for a 1-0 Willow Glen victory over Homestead in action in the Santa Teresa of the Blossom Valley Athletic League. Assists from Kristen Rovai and Nicki Garcia set up Booth for a goal in the first against the Mustangs, and the Willow Glen defense made that single score stand up for a victory. The Rams, 4-2-1 for the year and 1-1 in league play, had opened the week with the 4-1 loss to Prospect. The Panthers opened up a 2-0 lead in the first half. Booth scored a goal in the second half off assists from Shayna Kroll and Kellie Arnone, but Prospect scored two goals in the half to secure the win. Big win for Panthers The Presentation girls' volleyball team came through with an impressive 15-12, 15-15, 15-9 win over Leland in the Mt. Hamilton Division of the Blossom Valley Athletic League. Lisa Sunseri, Katie Rowe, Michelle Hagen and freshman Lindsay Caton have helped the Panthers jump out to a 5-0 record in the division and to a 16-5 mark for the year. Over in the West Valley Division, Willow Glen split in a pair of matches last week, beating Lincoln 15-5, 11-15, 15-9, 15-12 before losing to San Jose 15-4, 12-15, 15-5, 16-14. The Rams are 3-3 in the division. WG netters split The Willow Glen girls' tennis team split in a pair of matches last week, beating San Jose 4-3 before losing 6-1 to Lincoln.
