Volunteers see red at Glen's Ed Park

Willow Glen High School freshman Scott Cluff and friends spent a recent Friday afternoon painting approximately 2,500 feet of curb at the Willow Glen Educational Park. The Sept. 25 effort wasn't a creative form of detention but a prerequisite to Cluff's earning his Eagle Scout rank.

Cluff and his volunteer force painted red safety zones along Varsity Lane, which runs through the Ed Park. Cluff is a member of Troop 225, sponsored by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Willow Glen.

The materials for the project were donated by Orchard Supply Hardware and Kelly Moore Paints, and volunteers munched on pizza donated by Pizza Hut. Willow Glen High School principal Patrick Day authorized the project.
