A HOPE attendant will be available from noon to 8 p.m. every day at the Parkmoor Plaza Shopping Center at Parkmoor and Meridian Avenues in San Jose to accept the donations and distribute receipts. Gifts of used clothing and household items such as small appliances, small furniture, toys, games, tools, bicycles and sports equipment are all welcome. "It's a real convenient area," HOPE spokesperson Elayne Roberts said. "We're hoping that people on the way to the post office or grocery store will want to do one more errand." She said HOPE will continue to accept donations for as long as people are willing to give them. A nonprofit center that has been running for 45 years, HOPE serves disabled residents in Santa Clara, San Mateo, San Benito and Monterey counties. Among the services they offer are employment and training, professional counseling, day activity programs, mobility training and supported living. Proceeds from the sale of the donations will help provide those services to more than 1,600 individuals with developmental disabilities.
