The Willow Glen ResidentSports BriefsPanthers ace Cards Pamela Chung and Stephanie Leupp posted back-to-back straight-set wins at No. 1 and 2 singles to start the Presentation girls' tennis team on the road to a lopsided 7-0 win over Mt. Pleasant in the Mt. Hamilton Division of the BVAL. Chung nailed a 6-0, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles and Leupp won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2 to lead the Panthers to the shutout win. Natalie Ackerman came through with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 3, and Nicole Shaheen nailed a 6-0, 6-0 win at No. 4 to give the Panthers a clean sweep in singles action. Mary Spielberger and Jessica Martin teamed for a 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 1 doubles. Vanessa Zinn and Luisa Duran posted a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 2 doubles, and Maria Ergueta and Courtney Herbert won 6-4, 6-2 at No. 3 doubles. The Panthers improved to 11-1 with the win. Willow Glen, meanwhile, opened play the same week with a 4-3 win over Westmont but lost 4-3 decisions to Lick and Gunderson in the Santa Teresa Division of the BVAL. The Rams are now 3-10 in the division. Pioneer pushed its Santa Teresa Division record to 7-5 with a 7-0 whitewash win over Del Mar. Booth hits two Junior sensation Erin Booth knocked in two goals to lead the Willow Glen girls' field hockey team to a 2-0 victory over Monta Vista in Santa Teresa Division play. Booth scored goals in each half, one off an assist from senior Meghan Compton, to lead the Rams to the win. Willow Glen slipped to 2-2 in the division and to 5-3-1 for the year later in the week, losing a 1-0 decision to Saratoga. Baseball Reunion Those baseball players who played in Los Gatos during the 1950s and '60s are making plans for their second annual reunion.
