Young Rams fall

Robert Hobbs fired a 78-yard scoring bomb to Gabe Candalaria to give Willow Glen a 9-0 halftime lead, but the Rams ended up losing a 21-9 decision to Pioneer in frosh-soph football action last Saturday.

The Rams had taken a 3-0 lead in the first on a 24-yard field goal by Scott Waniberg, then made it 9-0 on Hobbs' TD toss to Candalaria. Waniberg's extra point try was blocked by Dan Borges, but the Rams still led at the break.

Pioneer came fighting back, though. Jacob French scored on a 5-yard run and Matt Mallon on a 4-yard run to put the Mustangs on top. Dan Scheffer added an insurance score with a 23-yard TD run in the fourth.
