Shanley heads to the University of San Francisco

Presentation basketball star Molly Shanley has verbally committed to the University of San Francisco.

Shanley, a varsity starter for the past three years for the Panthers, has been heavily recruited for the past two years. She was contacted by over 60 schools, according to Presentation coach Paul Smith, but narrowed the field to eight--Santa Clara, Colorado State, Arizona State, St. Mary's, the University of San Diego, Portland State, UC-Irvine and USF. After visiting the USF campus, she decided to join the Lady Dons after her senior season for the Panthers.

Panthers third

Cassie Bienemann and Jamie Hinderliter tossed in three goals apiece to lead the Presentation girls' water polo team to a 9-3 win over Monta Vista in the third place game of the Halloween Classic at Willow Glen last weekend.

Laura DiPalermo, Lisa Knott and Leslie Buehler also scored goals for the Panthers in the third place game.

Presentation had lost an 8-7 heartbreaker to Lynbrook in the tournament semi-finals. Jennifer Allen scored three goals for the Panthers and DiPalermo, Knott, Bienemann and Tarryn Knight also scored.

Presentation opened the tourney with a 10-4 win over Soquel. Bienemann led the Panthers with six goals, and Knight, Hinderliter, Knott and Kristin Olsen added goals.

The Panthers, 16-7 for the year, had pushed their record to 3-1 in the Mt. Hamilton Division of the Blossom Valley Athletic League last week with wins over Pioneer and Leland.

Bienemann tossed in five goals, and Hinderliter added two in the 9-7 win over the Chargers. Allen and Knight also scored in the win.

Bienemann poured in an impressive nine goals in the 16-4 win over Pioneer to open the week. Allen hit four, and Hinderliter had three.

Chung wins titles

Pamela Chung nailed a 6-3, 6-1 win over a Leland foe in the finals to claim the singles crown in the championship tournament in the Mt. Hamilton Division of the Blossom Valley Athletic League.

Presentation's Stephanie Leupp clinched third in the league with a 6-4, 6-1 win over another Leland netter in the third-place match.

Rams win

The Willow Glen girls' volleyball team pulled out an exciting four-game win over Lincoln in the West Valley Division of the Blossom Valley Athletic League last week. The Rams beat the Lions 5-15, 15-11, 15-13, 15-11 to improve to 7-5 in the division. Their record is even at 7-7 for the year.
