Speak Out
Please drive carefully, for the sake of both cats and children
To an unidentified motorist:
The cat you hit Thursday died. He got himself to the sidewalk and died. He didn't suffer long, less than a minute.
I know--he came out of nowhere, streaking right in front of you. But you were going too fast. You didn't brake at all. And after you hit him, you didn't stop.
The neighbors took care of his body and told his owner. She'll miss her pet.
It's a residential street posted at 25 miles per hour. Slow down. It could have been a child. Slow down.

WGNA board didn't represent all members
As a member of the Willow Glen Neighborhood Association (WGNA), I would like to strongly applaud the comments Jennifer Batuyong made in the Oct. 27 issue of the Resident about The Glen ("Glen is scapegoat for community problems").
One issue that surfaced during the Oct. 5 City Council hearing was who the WGNA board was representing with the position it took. I can say that the board certainly wasn't representing me, and I remain troubled as to why the WGNA board is reluctant to admit there might be some of its members who do like having The Glen on Lincoln Avenue.
We live in a changing city, and we need to realize that Willow Glen too is changing and cannot remain pastoral forever. The Glen is, no doubt, part of that change, and I am happy it is locally owned and not part of a national chain.
