The Willow Glen ResidentSports BriefsPanthers split and Rams fall The girls volleyball team at Presentation split a pair of matches in the Mt. Hamilton Division of the Blossom Valley Athletic League last week. The Panthers started off strong against unbeaten Mitty to open the week, winning the first game 15-9. But the powerful Monarchs fought back to win three straight 15-10, 15-1, 15-10 to continue their winning ways in the division. Mitty is now 12-0. Presentation improved to 10-2 in the division and to 24-10 for the year with a 15-4, 15-10, 15-6 win over Leigh later in the week. Willow Glen, meanwhile, slipped to 4-9 in the West Valley Division of the BVAL after losing 15-4, 15-7, 15-7 to San Jose Academy. SJ Pacific Pony League Signups The San Jose Pacific Pony baseball league will hold signups for the 1999 season on Nov. 14 and Dec. 5, 11:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., at the Round Table Pizza Parlor at the corner of Camden and Kooser. Players ages 5-14 are eligible and must provide a birth certificate at the registration. For more information, call 535-0657. Stanford holds baseball camps A series of Stanford holiday baseball camps will be offered in November and December. Hitting and defensive instruction will be offered over Thanksgiving weekend, Nov. 27-29, and there will be pitching, hitting and defensive camps over Christmas vacation on Dec. 20-22 and Dec. 27-29. Christmas Classic Basketball Tourney The Christmas Classic, a basketball tournament for boys and girls in grades 7-8, will be held Dec. 18-20 in San Jose.
