Preservation week posters solicited
The National Trust for Historic Preservation is soliciting entries to its poster contest celebrating National Historic Preservation Week May 12-18, 2002.
The contest's theme is "Preserving the Spirit of Place." The nonprofit organization is looking for colorful and creative entries that demonstrate the importance of America's many-layered past, from Native American days to today.
The organization has existed since 1949 and has sponsored Preservation Week since 1971. It provides leadership, education and advocacy to save America's diverse historic places and revitalize communities.
The winning poster will be used as the organization's official preservation week poster and will be displayed across the nation. The top three winners will receive $2,000, $1,500 and $1,000. The entry deadline is Jan. 4, 2002. For more information, call 202.588.6037 or visit www.nationaltrust.org/preservationweek.
