    Quicksilver Volleyball

    The Quicksilver Volleyball Club will hold tryouts for the 2000 season on Nov. 21 on new courts at Independence High School.

    Tryout times include: 8:30-11 a.m. for players ages 17-18; noon-2:30 p.m. for players ages 12-14; and 3:30-6 p.m. for players ages 15-16. Players should arrive early to sign forms and there will be a mandatory parents meeting. The tryout fee is $20 and players should come with kneepads and expect to work hard.

    An additional tryout is slated for Dec. 4 at Independence, but only to fill any remaining team spots. Quicksilver plans to field at least one team in each age division (12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17 and 18).

    PAL Baseball

    The San Jose PAL is accepting signups for the 2000 season for players ages 7-12. New players must provide a birth certificate. For more information, call Officer Kevin White at 408.272.9725, ext. 102.

    SJ Pacific Pony

    San Jose Pacific Pony Baseball will hold signups for the 2000 season for players ages 5-14 on Dec. 4, 11:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., at the Round Table Pizza Parlor, corner of Camden Avenue and Kooser. New players must provide a birth certificate.

    Run to the Far Side

    The California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco will host the Run to the Far Side, a 10K and 5K run/walk set for Nov. 28, 8:30 a.m. The registration deadline is Nov. 19 and the cost if $15 for members and $20 for non-members.     Baseball Camp

    Stanford assistant baseball coach Mark O'Brien will host the annual Stanford baseball camps for players ages 12-18 on the Stanford campus.

    The camps will feature hitting and defense, with a special camp for pitchers ages 13-18. Camps will be held Nov. 26-28, Dec. 20-22 and Dec. 27-29 at Sunken Diamond, and the cost is $110 per session.
