The Willow Glen Resident Sports Briefs Kebede, Najera star It was cool and bright for the Central Coast Section cross country meet at Crystal Springs in Belmont last weekend. And Willow Glen's Eyasu Kebede and Janette Najera were rather cool and bright themselves as they ran to top 20 finishes in CCS Division IV. Kebede finished 12th in the boys division, and Najera was 20th in the girls race to lead the Willow Glen effort at the meet. Kebede, a senior, was 12th in 16:56 to star in the boys race for the Rams. Patrick Adams, a junior from Pioneer, finished a solid 22nd in 17:27. Najera, a senior, covered the 2.95-mile course in 21:13 to finish 20th in the girls division for the Rams. Presentation ran to an 11th-place finish in the team standings in the CCS Division III girls race. Theresa Nunez was 41st in 22:07 for the Panthers. The junior was joined at the finish by teammates Stephanie Stoddart, a junior who finished 60th in 23:26; Giselle Sancen, senior, 68th in 24:14; Clare Varesio, junior, 72nd in 24:34; Margie Martinez, junior, 74th in 25:17; Stephanie Wong, junior, 76th in 25:44; and Katie Werback, sophomore, 80th in 27:11. Willow Glen Little League The Willow Glen Little League will hold signups for the 1999 season on Nov. 19 and Dec. 3, 6-9 p.m., and Nov. 21, noon-3 p.m., at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1336 Cherry Ave. The league is open to boys and girls ages 5-18. Players must provide an original birth certificate and a utility bill for proof of residency. The league is also looking for volunteer umpires, managers and coaches. For information, call 450-8502. PAL Pony Signups The San Jose PAL will hold Pony Baseball signups for players ages 7-12. Signups are held Tuesday through Friday at PAL Stadium, and on Nov. 28, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., at PAL Stadium. Pacific Signups The San Jose Pacific Pony baseball league will hold signups for the 1999 season on Dec. 5, 11:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m., at the Round Table Pizza Parlor at the corner of Camden and Kooser.
