Rain stops Rams, but game will be rescheduled Rain has been all that could stop the Willow Glen girls' field hockey team in the Central Coast Section playoffs--Monterey certainly couldn't. The Rams blanked Monterey 3-0 in the first round of the CCS play-offs to advance to the quarter-finals against Los Gatos on Saturday. But rain washed away the Saturday game, and the Wildcats and Rams will be rescheduled for this week. Willow Glen opened the play-offs with the 3-0 win behind the efforts of talented junior Erin Booth. Booth knocked in two goals, one unassisted and the other off an assist from senior Gina Bettencourt, and she assisted junior Kristen Rovai on another goal to lead the Rams to the win. Tracy Harding makes all-league The Willow Glen girls' water polo team lost in the first round of the tournament in the Santa Teresa Division of the Blossom Valley Athletic League, falling 16-9 to Piedmont Hills. The Rams stayed right with the Pirates for three periods, but were outscored 9-2 in the fourth. Willow Glen trailed just 2-1 after a period, but tied it 5-5 by the half. The Rams matched the Pirates' two goals in the third quarter but then lost it in the fourth. Jennifer Rohwer led the Rams with four goals, and Quinn Cowsert chipped in with three. Nazy Mousavi and Whitney Gregg tossed in a goal apiece for Willow Glen. Tracy Harding earned a spot on the Santa Teresa all-league team after an outstanding season for the Rams.
