Jaguars third in SJ City Tip-Off Classic
The San Jose City College men's basketball team knocked off Foothill College 74-53 to clinch a third-place finish in the San Jose City Tip-Off Classic.
San Bernadino Valley beat San Joaquin Delta 61-56 to win the tournament title, and Skyline topped Merced 69-66 to claim the consolation championship.
The Jaguars slipped to 2-2 for the year when they lost a 74-70 non-conference decision to the City College of San Francisco Wednesday.
In women's basketball action, San Jose City lost 68-58 to Lassen in the finals of the Reno Shootout.
In other action, the San Jose women's volleyball team lost a 30-11, 30-22, 33-31 decision to unbeaten West Valley in Coast Conference play. The Jags slipped to 3-5 in conference play with the loss. They are 3-13 for the year.
Campbell's Perlik plays two sports
Krista Perlik of Campbell is a member of the women's basketball team at San Jose Christian College. The 5-foot-tall junior guard also played volleyball for the Warriors in the fall.
Perlik starred in both basketball and volleyball at Westmont High School before moving on to San Jose Christian.
She is just one of five local athletes competing at the local Christian college. Others include: Tara Eichinger (Los Gatos), 6-foot-4 sophomore center on the women's basketball team; Justin Bower (Homestead), a sophomore midfielder on the men's soccer team; Aron Shimada (Pioneer), a freshman defender on the men's soccer team; and Chad Salstrom (Leigh), a junior forward on the men's soccer team.
Apex Volleyball holds tryouts for boys
The Apex Volleyball Club is currently holding tryouts for boys ages 12-18. No experience is necessary.
Practices will be held in Los Gatos and Saratoga, and teams will play weekend tournaments in Northern California.

Masters Swimming
The West Valley Swim Club offers masters team and lap swimming Monday through Friday, 6-7:30 a.m., and Saturday, 7-8:30 a.m., at Saratoga High School. The cost is $5 per swim. For more information, call 408. 395-5341.
