WG Elementary PTA hosts holiday events

The holiday season has arrived in Willow Glen, and the Willow Glen Elementary PTA is hosting several upcoming events.

The PTA, Willow Glen Kiwanis Sunrisers and the Willow Glen Business Association are sponsoring this year's Willow Glen Tree Lighting ceremony on Nov. 30, at 6:30 p.m. at the school on 1425 Lincoln Ave. This is the second year Willow Glen Elementary will host the community Christmas tree, located on the corner of Lincoln and Minnesota avenues at the front of the school.

In addition to the lighting of the tree, there will be performances by many of the local school groups, beginning at 7:30 p.m. A special guest--Santa Claus--will also attend the tree lighting from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Polaroid photos with Santa will be available for $2, with proceeds from the photos benefiting the students at Willow Glen Elementary.

For the sixth year in a row, Willow Glen Elementary will be the home of Butler Amusement's Christmas tree lot. Butler will donate $1 for each tree sold to the PTA. In addition, every weekend volunteer parents from the school will staff the lot that helps the elementary school earn an extra 15 percent from each tree sold. For more information about the Christmas tree lot and other holiday activities, call the Willow Glen Elementary PTA at 408.535.6265.
