Speak Out
A police investigation will tell us who needs to apologize to whom
In a Nov. 8 Resident story (Police look into mailing sent out at end of race), a number of people were asking Kris Cunningham (my wife) for an apology. Those people were: Ken Yeager, Michelle McGurk, Bob Waligore and John Karamanos.
They believe that a Kris Cunningham supporter was responsible for an ugly letter and anti-gay cartoon that was sent out to members of the Willow Glen Business and Professional Association. They are entitled to their opinion, but so am I.
I don't believe that Kris Cunningham, Phil Rossignol or any other Cunningham supporter was responsible for that letter.
One question I have is: What kind of person would send out such an ugly hurtful letter and cartoon?
The bottom line is whatever the San Jose police investigation uncovers. Then we will know who needs to apologize to whom.

Writer, photographer deserve many thanks
This will serve to inform you of my appreciation for the fine article on our organization, the San Jose Metro Widow-Widowers Association. Suzanne Barnecut and Jacqueline Ramseyer did a beautiful job of writing and photography. I know with your proficient help we will rebuild our membership and keep this good organization functioning.
Once again my sincerest thanks,

Art programs deserve praise for their help
I appreciate Kate Carter's article on our school's ArtPath program, which started this year under the direction of Donna Thompson of San Jose State University.
However, I would like to extend recognition to two important art programs that started last year. One was the Art Docents Program that was started by Marylea Adams, a local artist and parent. She organized and trained parent volunteers to go into classrooms and present art lessons using slides and other materials. Also, San Jose Unified School District has contracted with the San Jose Museum of Art to provide artists who present art lessons for students in grades fourth and fifth. These students receive an hour of instruction in art every week.
I am very grateful to these two groups of dedicated volunteers and artists. They have helped provide a well-rounded education for our most precious resource--our children.
