The Willow Glen ResidentPhotograph by Robert Scheer Chung wins league singles titleTeammates are supposed to work together, but that proved impossible for Pamela Chung (above) and Stephanie Leupp of Presentation in the Blossom Valley Athletic League girls' tennis tournament. They just couldn't help but work against each other when they met in the tournament semifinals. Chung knocked off Leupp 6-1, 6-0 in the semis to advance to the singles finals against Jane Thistlethwaite of Leland. Chung won that also, 6-3, 6-3, to claim the league singles crown. Chung had posted an easy 6-0, 6-1 win over a Lincoln player in the quarter-finals, and Leupp beat an Oak Grove netter 6-2, 6-1 to advance to the semifinals. Leupp came back to beat a Yerba Buena opponent 6-2, 6-1 in the third-place match. Both Panthers advanced to the Central Coast Section singles tournament. Chung handled Cheryl Leung of Live Oak 6-0, 6-2 in the first round but lost in the second. Leupp lost her first match 6-2, 6-1 to Jasmine Bradley of Robert Louis Stevenson.
