    Softball Tryouts

    The Strikkers have scheduled tryouts for girls softball teams in three different age groups:

    * The Original Strikkers will hold tryouts for a girls 16-and-under summer travel team on Dec. 3 at San Jose City College. Pitchers and catchers should report at 10 a.m. with all others to report at 11 a.m. For information, call 408.296.2212 or email tjoyner@worldnet.att.net.

    * Tryouts for a girls 14-and-under summer travel team will be held Dec. 2 at Presentation High School. Pitchers and catchers should report at 11 a.m. with all others to report at noon. For more information, call Dana Timbrook at 408.395.2649 or email dana@communities.com.

    * The Strikkers 12-and-under spring and summer traveling team will hold tryouts on Dec. 2 and 3, 2:30-5 p.m., at Pioneer High School. For more information, call Mike Quint at 408.997.2758 or Marty Satalina at 408.629.5724.

    San Jose Pacific

    San Jose Pacific Baseball will hold signups for the spring season for players ages 5-14 on Dec. 9, 11:30 a.m.-4 p.m., at the Round Table Pizza on Camden Avenue in San Jose. For more information, call 408.536.0657.

    Lincoln Glen Little League

    The Lincoln Glen Little League will hold signups for the 2001 season on Nov. 29, 5:30-8:30 p.m., and Dec. 2, 10 a.m.-1 p.m., in the rec room at River Glen Park, on the corner of Bird and Pine.

    Players ages 5-16 are eligible, and must provide a birth certificate and proof of residency (PG&E, water or utility bill) at the registration. The fee, which includes photos, trophies and a fundraiser, is $100 (ages 5-6), $125 (ages 7-12) and $135 (ages 13-16).

    The league hopes to complete all signups by Dec. 31. Tryouts for players ages 7-12 will be in January and February.

    Coaches Clinic

    A clinic for softball and baseball coaches will be held Dec. 9, 11:30 a.m.-5 p.m., at St. Joseph's School in Mountain View.
