    WG girls win, boys lose

    By Dick Sparrer

Colleen Wozny picked up this year right where she left off in season's past--scoring goals for the Willow Glen girls soccer team.

Wozny, a top scorer for the Rams in each of the last two seasons, scored a first-half goal to start Willow Glen on the road to a 2-0 win over Saratoga to open the 1999-2000 soccer season.

Wozny gave her team the early lead, and Kellie Arnone added an insurance goal in the second half when she scored off a Samantha Bruni assist.

Wozny, Arnone and Bruni are each fresh off a successful field hockey season for the Rams.

The Willow Glen boys soccer team, meanwhile, opened the Homestead Cup Christmas Tournament with a 2-1 loss to Watsonville.

Juan Rivera scored a goal in the second half, but it wasn't enough to offset two second-half goals by Watsonville.

The loss evened Willow Glen's season record at 1-1.
