    Church presents Christmas program

    The First Covenant Church of San Jose, 790 Coe Ave., will be presenting its third annual Contemplative Christmas program Dec. 9 at 6 p.m.

    The program includes scripture readings, poetry and music compiled by Patricia Emerson Mitchell, oboist with Opera San Jose and English hornist with the San Jose Symphony.

    Desserts are served prior to the program, and a donation of $5 is requested. Adults and mature children are invited; child care is available if requested ahead of time. For more information or to make reservations, call the church at 408.297.3530.

    SJSU concert venue changed

    The workshop and concert venue for jazz tenor saxophonist David Sanchez, co-presented by the San Jose Jazz Society and the School of Music and Dance at San Jose State University, has been changed to a new location.

    The workshop and concert will now take place Dec. 10 at Le Petit Trianon Theatre, 72 N. Fifth St. The workshop will be at 4 p.m., the concert at 7:30 p.m.
